How to use the HEIC Converter

The HEIC format was created by Apple to store excellent-quality photos in smaller files — but it isn't natively supported by most operating systems and platforms outside the Apple ecosystem. To share your photos on websites, social media, email, or use them on Windows and Android, you need to convert them. This tool does that directly in your browser, without sending anything to the internet.

To get started, drag one or more .heic files onto the upload area or click it to select files. You can add as many photos as you want at once. After uploading, the list shows each file with its name and size. If you want to remove one before converting, click the trash icon next to it — removal is individual and doesn't affect the others.

Choose the output format: JPG is the most compatible and works everywhere; PNG is lossless and preserves transparency, ideal for screenshots and finely detailed images; WebP is the most modern format, with excellent quality and smaller size, recommended for websites. Then click Convert and wait — progress appears in real time for each file. Once everything is ready, click Download ZIP to save it all at once in a single compressed file.

Frequently asked questions

Are my HEIC files uploaded to a server?
No. All processing happens directly in your browser using JavaScript. Your files never leave your device and nothing is uploaded to any server.
How many files can I convert at once?
You can add as many HEIC files as you want. The practical limit depends on your browser's available memory. For very large batches (over 50 photos), we recommend converting in groups to avoid slowdowns.
What's the difference between converting HEIC to JPG, PNG or WebP?
JPG is the most compatible format and ideal for sharing photos on any platform — social media, email and apps. PNG keeps transparency and is preferred for designs and screenshots where maximum quality matters. WebP offers the smallest file size with excellent quality, making it the best choice for websites and apps, since it cuts load time by up to 30% compared to JPG.
Why are my iPhone photos in HEIC format?
Apple adopted HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) starting with iOS 11 because it's up to 50% smaller than JPG at equivalent quality. The problem is HEIC has limited compatibility outside the Apple ecosystem — Windows, Android and most websites still don't support it natively. This tool solves that by converting to universal formats without leaving the browser.
How do I transfer HEIC photos from iPhone to a computer before converting?
Connect the iPhone via USB and copy the photos from the device folder (Windows Explorer or Finder), or use AirDrop for Mac, or iCloud Drive. On Windows, you may need to install the free "HEIF Image Extensions" from the Microsoft Store so the system recognizes the files. After transferring, drag the .heic files directly into this tool.
Does converting HEIC to JPG lose quality?
The conversion is performed at maximum quality (100%). HEIC and JPG are both compressed formats, so there's a recompression step involved, but visually the result is indistinguishable from the original for typical photos. If you need zero loss, choose PNG as the output format, which is lossless.
