How to sharpen and improve the quality of an image online

To get started, drag the file into the upload area or click "Choose Image" to select a photo from your computer or phone. The tool accepts JPG, PNG and WebP files and doesn't set any artificial size limit — only the memory available in your browser. Once the image loads, two preview panels appear side by side: the original on the left and the sharpened result on the right, updated in real time as you adjust the controls.

The tool's main control is Sharpness, which works like an enhancement filter (unsharp mask): it detects contrast transitions between neighboring pixels and enhances them, creating a sense of more focus and detail without changing the image's resolution. The scale runs from 0 to 10, in steps of 0.5 — start with values between 2 and 4 for most photos and increase gradually while watching the result: very high values can create halos or visible noise around edges, especially on already-compressed photos.

Besides sharpness, you have three complementary options: Noise Reduction smooths grain and artifacts from dark photos or shots taken at high ISO, and should be applied before high sharpness values to avoid amplifying imperfections; Contrast intensifies the difference between light and dark areas; and Saturation adjusts color intensity. Combine the four controls until you get the balance you want — the "Reset Adjustments" button returns everything to the default values at any time.

Once the result looks the way you want, choose the output format (PNG to keep transparency and maximum quality, JPG for smaller files, or WebP for the best balance between size and quality) and click "Download Image". The final file is generated and processed entirely in your browser, in its original resolution, with no upload to any external server, and the download starts immediately after clicking, ready to be used wherever you need it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are my images uploaded to any server?
No. All processing happens locally in your browser, using Canvas and JavaScript. No image is uploaded or stored on our servers.
Is there a file size or quantity limit?
There's no artificial limit set by the tool. The only limit is your browser's available memory, so very large images (over 20-30 MB) may take longer to process.
Does it work on mobile?
Yes. The interface is responsive and works in any modern browser, on desktop, smartphone or tablet.
What's the difference between sharpness and image resolution?
Resolution is the number of pixels in an image, while sharpness is the perception of focus and edge definition. An image can have high resolution and still look blurry; the sharpen filter enhances contrast transitions between neighboring pixels, but it doesn't add new pixels.
What's the ideal sharpness level for e-commerce product photos?
For product photos on marketplaces like Amazon or eBay, sharpness values between 2 and 4 usually enhance textures and edges without creating visible halos. Noisy photos benefit from 10-20% noise reduction applied before sharpening.
Does increasing sharpness help SEO or my site's Core Web Vitals?
Indirectly, yes: sharper images improve user experience and click-through rates in search results, but file weight is what impacts Core Web Vitals the most, especially LCP. After adjusting sharpness, export as WebP to keep the file light.
When should I use noise reduction before applying sharpness?
Whenever the image comes from a high-ISO camera, low-light conditions, or aggressive JPEG compression. Applying sharpness directly to a noisy image amplifies artifacts; that's why the tool lets you reduce noise before the sharpen filter.
